Ground Works
Ground works for AC and DC charging covers all civil construction needed to bring power safely and neatly from the grid connection point to the chargers, and to prepare the parking areas where vehicles will charge.
Excavation
and trenching
- Site preparation including marking routes, breaking surfaces
(asphalt/concrete), and excavating trenches for power and data cabling from the main distribution point to charger locations. - Horizontal drilling/boring where needed to cross roads, paths, or structureswithout open cuts, followed by backfilling and compaction to restore structural stability.
Foundations and mounting structures
- Construction of concrete pads and plinths for DC fast chargers, transformers, and distribution cabinets, plus smaller bases or wall fixings for AC chargers.
- Installation of bollards, curbs, or barrier systems to protect chargers and equipment from vehicle impact while ensuring safe maneuvering space.
Surface works
and parking layout
- Repair and reinstatement of asphalt or paving after trenching.
- Marking and striping of EV parking bays.
Drainage, safety,
and accessibility
- Installation of signage, wheel stops, and safe walking paths so users can access chargers without trip hazards and in compliance with local accessibility rules.
Integration with
electrical works
- Provision of ducting and conduits, cable protection, and earthing infrastructure to support high currents for both AC and highpower DC systems.
- Coordination with electrical installation and final inspection to ensure all civil works meet structural, electrical, and safety standards before commissioning.
